Who private GPT is for

CPAs, financial advisors and law offices hold confidential client data and often cannot paste it into a public chatbot. Staff sometimes do it anyway. A private setup gives them a safe, approved place to use AI.

Private cloud GPT: the AI model runs inside your own AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure account, behind your logins, with logging. Under each provider’s terms, which we review with you, your prompts are not used to train their public models.

On-site GPT: open-weight models running locally on a computer or server in your office, using tools like Ollama (for example Hermes and other open models), so prompts and files stay on that machine. We can also point AI agent tools such as Claude Code at your own AWS, Google Cloud or Azure account instead of the public service.

Rules differ by profession. Examples: tax preparers deal with IRC section 7216 and the FTC Safeguards Rule, financial firms with GLBA and SEC or FINRA expectations, and law firms with client confidentiality duties and ABA Formal Opinion 512 on generative AI. We build to your firm’s policy and work with your compliance advisor or attorney. We are not a law firm, and a tool alone does not make a firm compliant.

What we set up

Pick the right place for your data, then connect it to your own documents.

Private cloud GPT

A private assistant in your own AWS, Google Cloud or Azure account, using Bedrock, Vertex AI or Azure AI Foundry, including AI agent tools like Claude Code run through that account.

On-site GPT

Local models on your own machine with Ollama, with an offline option for the most sensitive work. Local models are smaller than the best cloud models, so we test what they can do for your tasks first.

Your documents, searchable

The assistant answers from your approved files and shows which document an answer came from.

Access and logging

Individual logins, roles for who sees which files, and logs of how the assistant is used.

AI use policy

A short written policy and an approved-tools list, so staff know what may and may not go into AI.

Staff training

Hands-on training on safe prompts and checking AI answers. See our workshops.

Private GPT: common questions

What is a private GPT?

It is an AI assistant that runs in an environment you control, such as your own cloud account or a machine in your office, instead of a public chatbot website. You decide who can use it and what data it can see.

Is it really private?

It depends on the setup. In the cloud version, your data stays in your account and, under each provider’s terms, is not used to train their public models. On-site stays on your hardware. We document where your data flows so you and your advisor can review it.

Does this make my firm compliant?

No tool does that by itself. A private setup helps you meet your confidentiality duties, but compliance depends on your policies, training and how you use it. We work with your compliance advisor or attorney and do not give legal advice.

Cloud or on-site?

Cloud is usually more capable and easier to maintain. On-site local models (for example with Ollama) fit data that must not leave your building, though they are smaller and need suitable hardware. Many firms start in the cloud and keep the most sensitive work on-site.

Can it use our client files?

Yes, only the folders you approve, with access limited by role. We test on sample files first.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the setup and how many people use it. Book the free consultation at contact us and we will quote it.
